The Sundance Film Festival jury awarded a special mention to a brief distributed by the company Extremadura FREAK

'How I met your father' is the title of the short film directed by Alex Montoya finally has won the "Honorable Mention in Short Filmmaking 'Award from the Sundance jury. The awards ceremony held yesterday at the Jupiter Bowl Park City.

This year the Spanish representation of short films at Sundance Film Festival has been emphasized, since competing in the official section, along with another 70 titles worldwide, "My Invisible Friend" by Pablo Larcuen, "Notes on the other", of Sergio Oksman and award-winning "How I met your father."

FREAK Agency, Extremadura distributor company of the three Spanish titles that chose to award, has participated in Sundance this year with support from the Office of Youth Initiative and the Government of Extremadura Extremadura Flag collaboration. For Millán Vázquez representing FREAK at Sundance, this recognition represents the international consolidation of the agency as a leader in the Spanish short film distribution. With its presence at Sundance, this agency works in order to spread internationally the image of Extremadura and the ability of their firms to innovate and develop competitive projects.

The jury has decided to grant this special mention Montoya for outstanding merit and achievement of its narrative. "How I met your father, who has won more than 30 film festival awards, as highlighted in the official section of Los Angeles Latino Film Festival earlier this year. Recognition in Sundance is therefore confirmed as the new director of emerging talent in international cinema. Montoya, who has yet release his short film "Marina" and is already preparing his feature film, has signed with manager Gregory Shepard who will represent the United States.
